On Saturday night we'll have a musical performance with Colombian musicians and Ryan Tennis and his group.

Salento &

the Cocora Valley

Monday, Feb 19th to Wednesday, Feb 21st

The magic of the Cocora Valley

We’ll arrive Monday evening in the colorful mountain town of Salento, in time for a game or two of the traditional Colombian sport “Tejo” (think Cornhole with gunpowder). On Tuesday we’ll take jeeps to the entrance of the famous Cocora Valley, where we’ll hike up the mountainside alongside the incredibly tall Wax Palms. This is a hike you will never forget!

Hot Springs of

Santa Rosa de Cabal

Wednesday, Feb 21st to Thursday Feb 22nd

Relax in the Natural Warmth of the Mountains

After our long hike on Tuesday we’ll visit some of the most famous hot springs in the area for a relaxing afternoon in their natural, warm, therapeutic water.

Coffee Farm

Thursday Feb 22nd to Friday Feb 23rd

From the mountain to the coffee pot

We’ll take a tour of a picturesque mountain coffee farm and learn about traditional coffee farming, as well the history of the area and how it has affected the countryside. Get ready to try some of the freshest coffee of your life!

“SINGING THE SOUL AWAKE” Workshop:

On Wednesday or Thursday, Ryan Tennis will offer his workshop, “Singing the Soul Awake,” for any who would like to join.

Learn and sing together with voice-opening exercises  followed by group singing to classic tunes from The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Marley and more (with lyrics provided). Ryan Tennis will teach fundamentals of breathing for singing and invigorating vocal warm-ups, designed to unleash the full potential of our voices. Share the joy of singing in a low-pressure environment, and explore the harmonious connection between heart, breath, voice.

All levels welcome!
.

Tuluá

Friday, Feb 23rd to Sunday, Feb 25th

A Celebration of Colombian Music!

We’ll spend the last couple nights in the small city of Tuluá, the place where the SancochoTrip (and the SancochoFest after which it was named) were born. We’ll have an incredible night with performances by Colombian musicians playing music from the Pacific Coast and by Ryan and his cast of friends. On Sunday we’ll have shuttles to take you to the Cali airport with plenty of time for your flight home (except for those who want to stay and keep traveling in Colombia - definitely not a bad choice!).

2 Notes About Activities:

  1. Aside from traveling with the group from location to location, all activities are optional. If you ever feel like you need an afternoon off to just walk around, or relax, or whatever, go for it! Of course, we think you’ll have a lot more fun if you come along on most stuff!

  2. While this is the outline, it’s possible that one or two activities will change between now and the time of the trip, due to changes with our partners or unforeseen circumstances. Don’t worry though, if we have to change an activity we’ll replace it with something equally fun!

Testimonials

“It was an absolutely unreal experience!

Seeing the world from that perspective, seeing things I’d only seen in pictures and videos, and then being there with people I just met a week ago who now feel like family.

-Joshua Steingard

To this day, it is my fondest travel memory.

The trip was the perfect combination of cultural exchange,

(the music! The food!) beautiful scenery (those mountains. OMG!)

fun activities (a hike, a music festival, a food tour…)

And, then, there’s the Colombians themselves. A warmer, more welcoming lovely group of people I can’t imagine. I felt like I was a guest not only of Ryan and Mauricio, but of all of Colombia. Everywhere we went, people greeted us warmly, delighted that we’d chosen to visit their beautiful country. Speaking of Mauricio. What a warm and generous soul. He was the perfect person to be our Colombian guide and host, and made sure that each of us had enough to eat and drink and was comfortable in every way.

-Carrie Borgenicht

I think a lot of us had very deep experiences up in the Sierra Nevada.

If you’ve never been before -

Bring your appetite, bring

your dancing shoes,

and bring your curiosity!

-Kristin Renee

I loved the variety of everything.

We got to see the most beautiful

scenery I have ever seen!

The food everywhere was gorgeous!

-Thomas “Ozzy” Lukiewski

Meting the children at the school in Palomino the other day was really moving. We saw so much in such a short time -

it’s amazing!
